Itinerary - Costa Rica Treasures

Day 1 - SAN JOSÉ

One of our representatives will be at the international airport waiting for you to meet and land transfer to San José. Lodging in San José.

Day 2 - VOLCANO HIKE & TABACÓN HOT SPRINGS

Breakfast at the hotel. The Arenal Volcano tour starts with a drive to the active Western side of the volcano. Once there you will embark on a hike on the Toucans Trail which traverses the rainforest and crosses over a large lava flow from 1992. It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife and magnificent lava rock formations. Once on top of the lava flow you will have a beautiful view of Lake Arenal. The hike ends at a viewing area where, weather permitting, you will be able to see red hot lava rolling down the side of the volcano (3 pm tour only). During the tour, our experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour concludes with a relaxing stop at the mineral hot spring. Lodging in Arenal.

Day 3 - TROPICAL COOKING CLASSES

In this hands on tropical cooking experience Chef Scott Alan and his local chefs offer a fun and entertaining afternoon of a Costa Rican cooking experience. You will learn all about tropical cooking, ingredients, grilling and even cocktails! Enjoy amazing views of Arenal Volcano in a “pura vida” atmosphere while preparing your meals. The class is great for beginners as well as true cooks, so all skill levels are welcome! You can participate and help Chef Scott Alan prepare the dishes or watch & take notes: the choice is yours. Classes are held at La Casa Rústica at the base of Volcano Arenal, just 300 meters from the La Fortuna waterfall. Lodging in Arenal.

Day 4 - ARENAL – MANUEL ANTONIO

Breakfast at the hotel. Regular transfer from Arenal to Manuel Antonio. Lodging in Manuel Antonio.

Day 5 - MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast in the hotel. Transportation will pick you up at your hotel from where you will start your ride to Manuel Antonio National Park. This national park is one of the most famous in our country due to its wide variety of flora and fauna specimens. The park itself boasts 3 different trails that vary in grade from flat to very steep. On this Manuel Antonio tour, you will be accompanied by a nature guide who is knowledgeable about everything you will see. The trail you will take is flat and picturesque and loops through the park making your course approximately 2 miles long. Throughout the hike your guide will stop and explain the different nature specimens that can be observed, you can take photographs or just admire the view. One of the highlights of this Manuel Antonio tour is that the park is home to 3 of the 4 existing monkey species in Costa Rica. Half way through the hike you will make leisure stop at the third beach located within the national park. You will have approximately 20 minutes to rest on the beach or play among the waves if you so choose. Throughout the hike you will be able to observe sloths, birds and reptiles as well as admire orchids, butterflies and tropical trees. Upon finishing the tour you will be provided with transportation back to your hotel. The park is closed on Mondays. Lodging in Manuel Antonio.

Day 6 - CATAMARÁN ADVENTURE

Transportation will be provided by your tour operator to pick you up from your hotel. You will travel approximately 20 minutes to the Quepos dock. A guide will take you to the loading platform and help you board the catamaran. You will set sail towards the horizon and cruise over sapphire hued waves. The catamaran will chart a picturesque course departing from Quepos gliding around the back of Manuel Antonio national park. Your guide will point out notable wildlife and vegetation specimens, so be sure to have your camera ready. You will pass by panoramas adorned with islands, cliffs and rock formations. You can admire aviary nesting grounds and marine wildlife. Beverages and snacks are available onboard the catamaran throughout the trip. After touring the coastline, your captain will set anchor on Bisanz beach where you can take advantage of the pit stop to snorkel at this secluded bay. You are most likely to spot parrotfish, starfish, angelfish and if you are lucky a dolphin! During your chartered course you will be able to savor a tasty barbeque lunch onboard the catamaran while admiring the lovely waterscapes. You will then head back to the dock where there will be transportation waiting to take you back to your hotel. This Manuel Antonio

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer from the hotel in San José to Juan Santamaría International Airport.
